Dr. Gemma Crossingham
Trainer & Investigation Specialist
Gemma Crossingham is a Consultant Anaesthetist in Plymouth, Devon with a particular interest in maternity and emergency anaesthesia. She is the Trust clinical lead for Cultural Improvement/Learning from Excellence and the deputy Service Line Director for Anaesthesia at University Hospitals Plymouth.
Gemma is an elected executive member of the national Obstetric Anaesthetists Association (OAA) and has worked with the National Maternal and Neonatal Health Safety Collaborative on cultural measurement, utilisation of safety 2 approaches and appreciative inquiry and learning from excellence.
She has published a number of quality improvement projects relating to learning from excellence, civility and staff wellbeing and is a national invited speaker.
Gemma trained at University of Bristol and has worked in London and Cheltenham before embarking on her anaesthetic training in the South west. She also holds a MSc in Clinical Education
Gemma has been a Trust human factors trainer for 10 years and has recently been invited to join Donna Ockenden in the review of NHS maternity services across England.
