Course objectives
This course will:
Module 1: Decision making under pressure
Identify how we make decisions, and how that changes as we become more experienced
Look at how we can miss the seemingly obvious: Keeping a ‘helicopter view’
Examine the relationship between stress and performance; how can we be at our best under pressure?
Module 2: Self awareness
Reflect upon personality types and how this can impact leadership & team-working
Acknowledge our tendencies and areas for development
Propose strategies to build on our strengths
Module 3: Leadership in practice
Help you to understand your natural style, building on understanding from the previous module
Present Situational Leadership - balancing the needs of task and people
Discuss what motivates and demotivates people
Provide a framework for managing difficult conversations
Module 4: Building High Performing Teams in complex, dynamic environments
Establish principles of High Performing Teams with examples and learning from other sectors
Investigate how to create consistent performance from ad hoc teams, in particular building trust within teams
Determine the role of Psychological Safety, and strategies to develop it
Ascertain the impact of incivility and inappropriate behaviour on team function and patient safety
